Dr. L (Loosen) Riesling 2005

Price: $8.99 @ Trader Joe's
Recommended by: Loosen's reputation
Comments: This riesling is a really nice everyday German wine. We were surprised by the fruitiness, with hints of pear, lime, and lemon, and a really nice, zippy, sweet finish. For the price, you cannot go wrong; plus, it's really easy to find since it's one of the more popular affordable rieslings.

Love your blog! We seem to have similar tastes (and budgets!) If you like Dr. L, you will LOVE rieslings from the Rheingau region of Germany. Subtract some apple and add in some lovely orange/tangerine and you have Rheingau riesling. Leitz and Schloss Vollrads are a few of our favorites that are readily available. Though they usually cost a tad more than value wines, Trader Joe's sells a Rheingau value riesling called Edition Maximilian 2005 Riesling Kabinett, For $8.99 (our local price) it doesn't give that "life-altering" Rheingau experience, but gives you a "glimpse" of it. Danger Will Robinson - Don't try a Rheingau riesling unless you want to get hooked for life! We love it with salsa a blue corn chips.
Keep up the great job on the blog. We have a book mark set here now!
